Old snapper 265xs snapper age

I own 2 snapper mowers 1 model 265xs serial# 742195 the other model 26064 serial # 33009291 can any one tell me what year they are? I was told the 265xs is 1974 could be the other 93 this can not be because I purchased it used in the latter 80"s I thinking it is a 83! I know you can tell by the engine # but they do not exist they long gone. I know they also come in series x xs 1 2 3 4 I believe the later is 4. Thanks for your replies!!

Thanks for yuor reply I have already checked with them and they said the 26064 was a 93 thats why I am still asking others it was bought used in the latter 80's it hard to really determine the age with out the original engines. Thank you for your reply though you can not get anyone to do that any more. Have a good one my friend!!

My dad was a dealer from 76 until the early 90s. When he started, I believe they were series 0 or 1. The 1974 dating would make sense for the 265xs. I worked in the store for 17 years, until after the square tube mowers were introduced. I would say 1983 would be spot-on for that series 4.
