Hi All,

Just voicing a personal opinion here..... I have 4 lawn mowers (two with Electric PTO's and two without) and after using them all quite extensively I much prefer the way the two JD's 100 series (with manual cutting belt engagement).
This is because I don't like the way the electric PTO hits the engine with such heavy load all in one go. But with the manual engagement it comes in nice and gradually.
I personally believe that that big hit is not good for the engine and apart from maintaining a couple of small brake pads and springs I see no disadvantage of the manual engagement method. And best of all it's a lot cheaper than an Electric PTO too.

Just my 2 cents worth..... what's your opinion?

I am with you on this to Much trouble with the electric pto a wire breaks or a fuse blows or they just stop working. And I agree the hard hit on the engine can not be good.

Also the tweak that the spindles & bearings take... But the majority of mowers, especially the larger deck models, do not have the room to allow a manual engagement .. particularly the larger shaft driven decks... :smile:KennyV
