OK,
Got this one in as a non sarter.
Carb was clogged so it got cleaned up and tested good.
Checked the spark , none
Pulled the kill wire off, still no spark
Replaced the magneto with a genuine B & S # 593872.
Still no spark.
Checked the kill wire & it is open in the on position & closed in the off position all good
Spun by hand , kill wire off no spark

Tried another magneto same story.
Just for the heck of it tried with the magneto flipped ( HT lead down ) and get a very faint spark when spun by hand.
However it is very faint and happens kill wire on & kill wire off
Tried an after market magneto same story again.
Magnets snap the coil to the block quite strongly so I am assuming the flywheel is OK.

Pulled the coil closer 0.005" again the same story

Can not see a spark with a 3 prong tester but go get one with the red tester

Any Ideas short of replacing the flywheel because I am out of them ?

Is is possible that the iron core of the armature isn't getting a good ground to the block of the engine.

Thanks but I ran the Dremel cup brush over the ends of the posts before fitting which is SOP
So no I don't think so but will ohm it out just to be sure.
Bought a box of the proper bolts with the serrated flanges so I might lash out and use 2 new bolts as well.
Got me stuffed and of course there isn't a known good flywheel in the shop to do a substitution with.
The OHV engines are bit too new for most of my customers.
I would have sent the armature back, except the two other new ones are the same .
