2020 Grasshopper 328 EFI with 28hp vanguard. Got on and wouldnt start. I notice fuel pump was noisier than usual and it doesnt shut off after 2-3 secs, just keeps running when key is in run position. Checked presser and its at 30, needs to be 39-45. Chexked the low pressure pump and it seems good. Did some trouble shooting and was gonna replace pump but decided to check spark, spark plug tester is showing no spark. Is this turning into something electrical, very odd that the pump and spark would go out at same time. Any chance is the ignition switch or ecu?. Thanks in advance

Very odd that both would fail at the same time. But will also consider the fact that they may be related. Engine codes would be helpful but it may not have any. Either way is going to require a systematic step by step in sequence diagnostics, not a throw the book at it and hope something sticks.

Without knowing exact model number I am only guessing. With a little research it appears that both could be related to a crankshaft position sensor or something that Briggs calls a CKP sensor.

A few things come to mind:

First, a weak battery not providing enough amperage.

Second, dirty or corroded fuse pin contacts.

Third, corrosion starting to set into connector pins on the harness.

Fourth, the chassis and harness grounds are corroded.

Fifth, Ignition switch is suspect especially if it has had a high number of cranking cycles, these switches are poorly made for this application.
