Very odd that both would fail at the same time. But will also consider the fact that they may be related. Engine codes would be helpful but it may not have any. Either way is going to require a systematic step by step in sequence diagnostics, not a throw the book at it and hope something sticks.
Without knowing exact model number I am only guessing. With a little research it appears that both could be related to a crankshaft position sensor or something that Briggs calls a CKP sensor.
