My Exmark mower model #LZS740PKC604 is for my personal use at home. The unit is over five years old, but the unit has less than 250 hours. Recently, the left self-contained hydrostatic system will not go into reverse. One knowledgeable person said the problem sounded like a shock valve problem. When visiting with dealers, most individuals talk like a complete system will be replaced at a cost of $2000 for the system plus labor and hydraulic oil. They say the replacing the malfunctioning parts inside the unit is too risky for them. If the system doesn’t clear contaminates or other parts are weakened, they will be stuck with the labor of the next repair. Does anybody have any experience with replacing shock valve parts including diagram with instructions,

Its a broken shock valve, looking from rear of machine at the dump valve lever the plug on the left side is the reverse. remove and replace with a 126-7466 shock valve. when removing old shock valve make sure the small spring is still hooked on, if not you will need to fish out broken piece with a magnet. this is from exmark dealer advisory #082715 from august 27 2015
