hi fellow mowers

we bought our mower recently at Lowes for just under $1100 with "free" dump cart. we've just went over the 5 hrs of breakin period where I just changed out the factory oil filter and what appears to be only less than 1.36 quart of factory oil after full drainage.

the manual states that my model engine should hold 1.6 quart of oil. why is that?

also I only added 1 bottle of oil (1.36 quart) and the dipstick shows that I'm at full operating level which I found bizarre, even after letting it settle on flat ground in my garage.

also, does anyone know of an easier way of keeping track of how many mowing hrs they've used? any apps?

The filter probably holds about .25 quart. Have you taken that into account? Hour meters aren't expensive. You could rig one up to keep track.
