Hoping to pretty much sit on the sidelines and learn. Have a two acre "lawn" (almost pasture) in SW Tennessee that's rough but can grow 6" of grass in a two week time frame. Unfortunately, I live and work in North Alabama and can't make the 150 mile trip as often as I need to in the spring and summer. I'm hoping to come up with a riding lawn mower I can load in my pick-up that can handle the tall grass but still be useful on the Alabama smaller lawn.
Used a White LT-1650 for a couple of years but the plastic hood and cowling couldn't take the jarring and finally broke apart completely. It's been retired as it quit starting at all.
Considering buying a 46" Craftsman (Sears) or Ariens (Home Depot). Don't have a lot of money to put into the machine and repair/service availability is important.
So, I'll be on the side paying attention to what the learned folks have to say.
