Hi Folks!
Just nabbed me a Lawn-Boy model 10550, Gold Pro Duraforce 6.5hp - engine 95-740. Got it at estate sale in very good condition, with rear bag and extra blades for somewhere north of $100. Didn't think the bidding would go that high, but these are listed at $400 (?) on Ebay. Runs, but needs a little carb TLC → engine surges, then backs down, then surges, then backs down, etc. every 2 seconds. Only runs evenly when choke open part way. Anyone got any useable information on that?
BTW, looks like there are 20 some members here and thousands of lurkers/ info only browsing. Well, I aim to put some new member 2 cents into the mix.
Value added bonus: I'm an RN, don't mind answering nursing/medical questions. I am not WOKE or left wing progressive, socialist. I love Pennsylvania and support the PA and US Constitution as an UNCHANGEABLE Document. I'm an Honorably discharged USAF veteran, served post-vietnam era, (1979-83), supplyman at terminal rank E-4. Oh, and I love Jesus, too.

Peace in our time,
Peter

Solid old engine, which I call a mule, just give it a little TLC and she’ll serve you well. I suggest you remove the carb and give it a good cleaning, plus replace the float needle and seat. Lawn Boy part number 92-9697. Here is a service manual with instructions, which will help you out. https://www.lawnboy.com/getpub/13300
