Finally got the rear wheels off my Husqvarna YTH22v46 riding mower. Had to resort to a wheel puller locked onto a couple shouldered eye bolts and a pneumatic hammer. Got as far as I could with the wheel puller then finished with the pneumatic hammer. Fought me every inch of the way.
So I've cleaned off the rust on the axle shaft but haven't come up with a good way to clean the inside race of the hub. Tried my dremel tool but it doesn't go deep enough. How do you guys get it clean enough so the wheel slides on and off easily without the wheel puller?

Since you have a dremel take a long bolt cut the head off and then cut a slot in the end of the bolt with a dremel cutoff disc so you can slide a piece of sandpaper into that slot and then use a drill to turn the bolt with the sandpaper in the wheel hole.
