Need help with craftsman push mower

Don't know much about mowers/engines could use some help with what to do. Only thing I know to check is air filter and the carb bowl and both seem fine to me. Gas isn't old.

That condition is called surging and 99% of the time it is caused by a restriction in the fuel system or an air leak.
You will need to remove the carburettor to clean it.
I also like to remove the fuel tank and clean it out at the same time
