I have a '96 Snapper RER model 331314BE with B&S vertical shaft engine. Hard starting & when it does, runs rough with slight misfire. I think flywheel key may be sheared & want to pull flywheel to check it.
Problem is there is a cast lower housing to the pull start that appears to be pressed onto the shaft. I have to remove this 1st so I can get the plastic blower off & then get to top of flywheel.
Anyone know how I should remove the top cast part? I can put a 2 jaw puller below it & center press on shaft end, but I don't want to break the cast piece. Not sure this is how I'm supposed to remove this piece. Experience advise welcome. See pic.

That top casting is threaded onto the shaft... it will unscrew , use a block of wood or a soft mallet and drift it counter clockwise... :smile:KennyV
