Hey there. Trying to get my Dixon Ram Mag 50 cutting again. There were two models of the Ram Mag 50 that were produced in 2007 and 2008, 968999561 and 968999562, and it is one of the two with Kawasaki engine FH601V. The procedure and parts appear to be identical. I am having quite the trouble in changing out the main belt for the mower. According to what I have read or understand, a 5/8; 76 inch v belt is necessary for the pulleys. I put the belt on the front pulley and have a homemade bracket tool that I connect the two linkage points and push down on the deck pedal to raise it as far as it will go. However I am still unable to get the belt around the rear of the pulley. I still have about another half inch to one inch to go before it will seat. I have tried screwdrivers to cinch around it but for nothing.
I was wondering if a 5/8 inch, 77 inch belt could possibly be substituted or would there be too much slack?
