Hi,

I was given an old MTD mower, which comes with a grass catch similar to one on amazon.
(Sorry I am not allowed to post a link. It should be the 1st item when searching "MTD Side Grass Catcher" on amazon, with white fabric bag.)

I think the part number is MTD 190-086-000. The description on amazon says it has a "Convenient flip-top opening". It's a opening in the fabric bag, not the opening where it's attached to the mower. What is it for? How do I keep it closed when mowing? Maybe the catcher was not assembled correctly?

Looking at the Amazon item you described, they only have the single picture, so it's hard to decipher how the latching system works. It looks like it would have some kind of rigid skeleton along the left or right-side, which then travels to the back/rear, over which the top flap wraps around.



Just a guess though...
