I just replaced the aluminum flywheel starter gear on my 15.5 hp briggs engine craftsman mower. It will spin like it did when it was new but will not start. I replaced the coil, gapped it right, but it will not start. Thought might be flywheel was put on incorrect but cant go but one way with the flywheel key. What now????? Thanks Dustin

what is your coil air gap. Myself I use a peace of paper for a feeler gauge.

Be sure the kill wire from the coil hasn't gotten grounded, that's my usual mistake.

Reddragon is right.First you've got to see if you have spark...if not...I would probably re-visit the coil.

Find your coil, magneto, there will be a wire attached to it, then follow that wire, it will take you to the Kill Switch

If you had the flywheel off to change the ring gear and didn't get the flywheel torqued properly it could of sheared the flywheel key when you tried to start it. I have seen then offset as much as 180 degrees (half turn) from where it should be.
