Mower won't start, now carburetor is overflowing

The mower stopped shortly after starting to cut and wouldn't start back up. It has a plastic carburetor. I pulled it and checked it. Float valve moves freely and parts don't seem gummed up. I put a small wire through each location just to double check. I put it back together, careful to double check the float valve is moving freely and gaskets are all in place. Now not only does it still not start, fuel is backing up into the air filter. I already pulled it back off to check that the float valve still moves freely (yes pin is in place) and it looks fine. Why do I have fuel backing up and why won't it start?

Thank you for the help.

The float valve isn't sealing allowing the carb to overflow, and also cause flooding which would prevent starting.

Check your engine oil.... It may be contaminated and Thinned out due to gas in it.

Need to flip the carb over and pressure test the fuel inlet tube. Needle and seat should hold 7psi.
