I washed my Encore hydro walkbehind mower today after mowing my lawn, it was running great without problems before washing it.
Now it is not starting after washing it, no clicking sound from the solenoid either.

Did i short something out?

Check for power at the starter solenoid ...
WITH the key turned to start...

check the interlock switches including the PTO... :smile:KennyV

**UPDATE**

Now the non-starting is the least of my problems, I removed the spark plug and I somehow STRIPPED the spark plug hole to the point where I can't get the spark plug back in it!
I didn't wanna force the plug in any further because it's stripped bad enough as it is.. so I guess I've gotta
re-tap the spark plug hole before continuing. (I've never tried this, but I know it can't be easy!)

I'm sure I could get the spark plug all the way in if I gave it some more elbow grease, should I try this before re-tapping?

Do you use anti seize on your spark plug?
If you have damaged the threads you can not "re tap" to the same size.
You could try a heli coil repair... I have not ever liked that process... a far better system is "time sert"

I have put many time sert repairs in my friends ford engines... after they had 'plug blow outs'...
If your threads are stripped, on a small engine, you may be better just replacing the head...
Take the plug out and examine the threads. They will Not get better forcing them... KennyV

I have had this mower for a month, its previous owner obviously did not use anti-seize on the plug when changing it.. I personally have always used it when doing the maintenance and changing plugs.

I looked at those TIME-SERT kits, I couldn't find a $ price for the kit I needed. (i measured the plug as it instructed) but they dont list their prices on the website.


I think what I may end up doing is just replacing the cylinder head, it can't be that much .. Probably can find one for like $15 bucks locally..
Im going to go that route for now, i'm not sinking alot of money into this thing.

Nevermind that last question.

Ok I now need help with the NOT STARTING problem that I originally start Ed the thread about.

I had the battery tested, its in good shape.

How do I BENCH test the starter motor?
