Hi Everyone.. After procrastinating for 1.5yrs, I've decided to purchase a mower to get away from hiring out lawn care. I have approx. 4 sloping acres to mow, give or take half an acre, with fairly severe sloping in spots.. Can't decide between a commercial walk behind or a garden tractor. I like the idea of attachment capabilities using the GT, but also concerned with its safe use on hills and the amount of time needed to mow compared to a commercial WB.. Any advice/insight would be greatly appreciated.
Well. what did the contractors use ?
If you liked the cut they gave you then buy the same equipment.
A tractor style mower will handle slopes better than a ZTR but the limiting factor will be the permissible tilt of the engine
Too much and the oil pump will be out of the oil with the obvious conclusion.
Older , or newer ( expensive ) mowers with horizontal shaft engines do not have this problem and can be run on quite large slopes to the limits of traction.
