Mower engine

The casing around my engine has been a little ruined. It almost looks it has been melted? Problem? Can I use the mower still?

I'll assume you are referring to the plastic shroud covering the top of your engine with a round metal screen in the center. You didn't give much of a description but if it will run without making any horrendous noises I imagine you will be just fine.
