Mower dies when engaged

I have a riding John Deere mower with 42" cut. Just changed the blades out. Now when I engage the mower, it dies. Does anyone know what may be causing this problem?

If you try to engage the brakes without being in the seat or get off the mower with the blade spinning the mower turns off.
So there is a 99% chance the seat switch is crook or the wire hat goes from the seat swtich to the prop switch is broken, loose or shorting.

Did you get the belt back in place? Is it binding?,
it would load down the motor and kill it.

I also agree with the other poster. A safety switch...

In reverse... kills mine

sounds like a safety switch is bad
