I have an LXT 1040 WITH a 19 hp Kohler Courage engine. Just finished cutting grass and stopped for a drink. when I started the engine, the oil light started flashing. It does not flash while cranking, only after it starts running. The engine does not have the Oil Sentry feature. Where is the oil sensing unit on this engine? Any other possibilities I should look at?

The oil pressure unit if it has one most likely will be next to the oil filter. Is it possible the flashing oil light could also be a change oil reminder function. Are you near a 50 hour increment on the hour meter

Yep, oil change time. Mine does the same when its time.
