Mower starts and responds to throttle fine until I pull the mower engage knob then engine surges several time and will stall out. I can jockey choke and it will continue to surge but when I stop jockeying it cuts off. If I jockey long time it may start and keep running smoothly with blade engaged. Any suggestions? Thanks

Time to clean the carb. The high-speed circuit is clogged. Engine model number would also help. Before you remove the carb to clean it make sure you take photos at every step. This way you can put it back together easy.
