I cannot find this spring on the parts breakdown. It is connected to the speed control arm ("gas pedal"), but I cannot figure out where the rusted off end connected. It would make sense if it were a retractor spring, but I think the other end would then have to go up into the area above the lower frame assembly. I could not find a likely connection spot.
The spring body is 1/2" dia. x 3-1/2" long. The hook end is 3/4" long. If the rusted off end were the same 3/4" long, then the spring is 5" long. The only "extension spring, .50 x 5.0" I found on the parts breakdown is item 48, p/n 732-1165, on page 39 of the 2/2003 operator's manual. That appears to connect to the PTO engage plate and to ???.
Does anyone know where this spring belongs?
Many TIA
