Check the linkages at the box.
Good chance the lever has debris around it preventing it from moving all the way.
Unless you mow in reverse all the time , reverse generally never wears out

Guess I should have added it will work great for about 2 hours after than reverse is real weak. I did check trans fluid and belt again. Belt looks good unless it is stretching when it warms up.

might be the belt. My 1040 does that when the drive belt gets wore.
