While waiting around for new Starter to arrive I disassembled it. I cleaned the Commutator and checked all segments OK. Brushes looked good Magnets tight and in place. The bearing ends looked awful dry so I applied a small amount of lube. The gear bendix moved fairly free but had what seemed a lot of wobble but couldn,t do anything about that. Reassembled unit hooked power to it held it vertical turned keyand it worked. So I reinstalled original starter and it spun and started. Shut off and repeated ok .Well now when I tried to start the starter gear didn,t retract after key off. It sounds/acts like a bendix issue. New Starter arrived and now all is fine. Question can the bendix be replaced and whats the numer and where to buy. Thanks for listening

None solenoid shift starter.

10 tooth or 14 tooth.

The 10 tooth can cost as much as replacement after market starter.

No, it is just the Bendix as in the picture. You must reuse all other related parts.
