To maintain stunning lawn its important to Keep grass strong and healthy with proper applications of fertilizer, fall and spring. This will insure resilience to traffic and drought, and keep the lawn a healthier green. Apply about 4 pounds of fertilizer per 1,000 feet. Slow release fertilizer is best.

I'm no pro, but I would say the most important thing you can do to improve a St. Augustine lawn is do not cut it too short. I work my way up during the Spring to the highest setting on the mower. A short cut allows the Sun to burn the roots and dry it out quickly which no amount of fertilizer or water can compete with.
