I have put a "newer" eng. in my mower and it has a solonoid on the bottom of the carb that the old eng. did not have. The mower turns over fine and will run if i spray fuel down the air cleaner but will not continue to run. is there a way I can "hot wire this solonoid so it will run?

You can do 2 things.
1- Wire up an earth to solenoid or engine ground and a ignition switched live so it works when you switch it off.
2- Replace solenoid with a bowl nut.
What engine is it?
