Why might the left drive of my 42 inch Troy-bilt Zero turn mower have rapidly deteriorated?

Drive belt came off or broke. Or could be other more serious things,but check the belt condition first.

Or if you had to push it or something check the pump release make sure your not in push mode on the one side.
