Leaving clippings on top of the lawn, looks ugly

A little background. 60" Gravely HD ZT, Oregon high-lift blades. Being retired, I mow fairly often, 3-4 days, have the deck set at 3.5", and I don't take off too much at a time. The deck itself is kept pretty clean underneath. Yet I still seem to get clippings clearly visible laying on the lawn. Nothing like wind-rows, but it looks like I've knocked off too much grass in a mowing which is not the case. I'm considering swapping those blades out for the mulching set that came with my mulching kit, minus all the hardware. Mulching blades with a side discharge. Only other thing I can come up with is to mow every day or 2. Blades are kept sharp....

Think about getting a pull behind sweeper with a catch hopper.

You should be able to mow once a week, no matter what type of blades, mower, growth, etc.
First thing to do is make sure the exit chute is at a 45 degree angle so that grass can be dispersed evenly and far out. Second thing is slow down on mowing just a bit and let the mower eat. Third thing is raise deck to 4” and check quality of cut and how much excess thatch is on top. Fourth thing is to change mowing pattern every week (four patterns total). Fifth thing is make sure you have good sharp blades.

Any mower i buy with a baffle for each blade , those baffles get removed so clippings are dispersed evenly . Attempting to make a mulching deck discharge evenly is a failure .

Very few people in Australia bother with catching clippings.
It may be our soil/grass types/environment but the clippings, on the surface, only seem to be around for about a day or two.
My assumption - the various biological entities (worms/beetles/fungi/etc) consume the clippings. :devilish:
