It really depends.....would you be using your John Deere rider? It also depends what the average rate is where you live. And how big on average are the properties? If a yard is 0.25 acre you don't want to have a price of $20/acre....because you would only get $5!!

Also, you might want to stop by the property you will be mowing (if it is the first time) to see how long the grass is, and adjust your price accordingly. If the grass is so tall it will take you double the time because it is like a foot high, you want to charge them extra!

Also I like to ask if they would pay for the gasoline. If you have a partner charge them more because you will have to pay another person. If the job isnt too big then you dont need to take on a job with someone else because then you both wont have too much money for all the work youve done. And one other thing when you have a decent sized lawn use the john deere and charge more because you have to drag the big tractor out:laughing: but the smaller ones you can push the lawn. I am also working on what I price lawns at too.
That's a tough question to answer, to many variables to consider like slopes, obstacles (including trees, beds, lawn furniture, etc.) Whether it's a well kept lawn or something you're going to just knock down. Is it going to be weekly or a one time thing. Also what type of equipment are you going to use, all can play a part as to the price you quote. Check the market and competition in your area.
Yeah I was wondering that also. I think he might use it to trim around the property since it might be the last time he is there that season. That is all I can think of.

Or if he is going to use his mower then the grass under it will be cut also because it still grows so he will probably have to trim it. like you said it will be the last of the season too.
No I will be getting a Husqvarna 130BT. For christmas

I think thats a left handed tube throttle backpack blower. i like husqvarna but for their chainsaws. their blowers are alright but i would rather have a stihl of an echo to tell you the truth. stihl is the best kind of blower i could recommend. if you want to spend a good amount of money.

I'll try to post a picture when i put my new brush guard on my craftsman. but i wont have my chainsaw in that picture because i just sold it to my buddy that is doing a bunch of tree work right now. he needs it more than i do. I think im going to use that money to buy that craftsman one i was talking about and some tire chains for the craftsman!:licking:

gas money+your work+how much yard it is. what my buddys uncle does is he walks the property and he counts his steps. then multiplies them together to get the square steppage as he calls it. i think he charges a dollar a step or something like that.

I don't know the answer to that....I always just charge by the property as a whole.
Well how big is the average yard? If it is quarter acre---->half acre maybe charge $25-35. I don't know what the price would be for larger yards since I don't mow them...yet.
Sorry i forgot what this was even about. I dont charge by the acre or by the hour. If its mowing i look at the size and also how often I will be doing it. If they only want me to do it when the grass is very long then I will charge more. I just have a set price for each time I do the lawn. It does depend on the size but I dont have a price that I set per acre. For all other jobs I do similar things. I look at the size of the job and how long it will take.

metz12-Did you ever find a way to mount your plow?
I have a way that i can rig it on to my mower but first i am going to go to a couple local stores that do the small engines repair so i think they might be able to find something that will work. you know because i would rather not rig it. i would want it done the right way

Square steppage? Wow. First time I've ever heard of that, but if it works, good for him.
I walk the property, estimating how long each section will take to mow. Add them up, and give a price. Never tell the customer how long it's going to take, just give them the price.
$80.00 to $125.00/acre is what I charge but I use a six foot wide Bush Hog on a 50HP Tractor! It would be hard on your tractor mower if the turf is tall Make sure you do a walk about the land as there could be rocks and other stuff that can ruin your mower or be dangerous. Above all do some due dilligence on your part. Good Luck
