Kubota zg227 vs Ferris is2000z

Ok guys my selection is down to a Kubota zg227 or a Ferris is2000z.

What I know-

Kubota zg227 is over built and a commercial mower with kubota's engine. It's a shaft driven with a hyd deck and I have a D600 kubota engine sitting on my shop floor if I ever wanted to swap over to diesel. They are offering 0%apr for 48mo $0 down.

Ferris - independent suspension ( not sure I even need that ) a chain link deck ( I've heard the ferris decks float better then the kubota ) input there would be great. Not shaft driven and not termed commercial. 0%apr but you have to apply for a brigs and Stratton credit card.

About me - 2.5 mow-able acres mostly flat, needs mowing once a week along with .5 miles of road shoulder. Must last me 20+ years with normal maintenance.

Thanks.

Hi Bull,

Like you, I cut 3.5 acres with really old equipment. My property is extremely rough.

I have been in deep research for some time for the ztr that would best serve our need, and I'm looking at Ferris and Kubota as well.

We have used a JD 345 (15 years old) & a L2900 Kubota with a Landpride 72" groomer for 18 years. Both units been extremely reliable. SO looking at a Kubota ZTR is a natural thing. But I fear without proper suspension the Kubota ZTR will ride like a brick. Many people on various forums say the suspension seat alone will not get it done if the property is really rough (mine is).

I just don't see buying a John Deere ZTR.

I have been toying with the idea of either the Ferris IS2000Z or the IS3100Z in 60". Because I don't cut in the wet, there have been many times, the grass was really tall once It was dry enough to cut, so a hefty engine is needed.

With that said, the IS2000Z if available in 52" & 61" but with the same engine, the Kawasaki FX801V (25.5 hp). SO, I wonder... In tall grass, how much better will it cut with the 61" deck than the 52" deck. The Vanguard Big Block (32 hp) is only available on the 61", but the torque on the Kawasaki is nearly as much as the Vanguard (go figure)

I'm at a point where I don't know anymore..... perhaps too much research. I know one thing, I want to purchase now.

OH.... What to do....???

As I said in your other posting, stick with the Kubota. Suspension is not as bad as everyone posts, plus the quality is better.

Just called about the kubota and if you go with there 0% apr and $0 down you have to have flood insurance and wind insurance. Which kinda hacks me off that they didn't say that on there website. Arghhhhh now I have to call my home owners I surname and see howich they want for those a month. My bet is getting a loan from a darn bank with interest will be cheaper then adding that to my hoi policy argggghhh again.

Thanks Rivets, I deeply appreciate your responses (yes, I remember), and I agree that Kubota is well built. But I keep hearing the rough ride "over & over". A very dear friend in North Alabama has a ZD326, and he says "yes Wil, it rides rough". It's really got me puzzled....

I would love the idea of offering my tractor set up to my Kubota dealer for trade on a ZD326... If only I was sure of a good ride.... I guess the only way I will ever find out, is a demo on my property. My Ferris dealer will not consider the tractor as a trade deal.

Thanks again....

All of the special finance agreements will require additional insurance (paid to them) in case of lost or theft of the mower (at a tune of about $400).....

Ill have to call them back and ask if kubota offers the flood and wind, but from what the salesman made it sound like, I had to supply the added insurance. Hopefully they offer it, that might make things do able.

Well I talked to Whites the Kubota dealer and your right they offer the insurance in house ( why you wouldnt let a customer know that upfront is beyond me ). Its going to be about $400-$500 over 60 months, I wanted 48 but they already had me written up for 60 and there are no penalties for paying off sooner. This way the payments are less and when we sell our old house I can pay it off without any penalties.

I never heard of anybody that would finance anything of that value without insurance. I have a ZG 222 and a ZD 326 both fi anced through Kubota and insured through them. With the insurance and warranty there is nothing you can name that is not covered that can happen to your machine.

Yes Kubota insurance covers it all.

Kubota used to accept home owners insurance and all you had to do was have your insurance fax over a binder and bam your done if you didn't want kubota's insurance. What got me was I spent an hour or two calling and trying to get the machine covered and then I was talking to a friend and he said ask them if kubota offers the insurance. If he hasn't mentioned that I would have called up and said I don't want the machine. Doesn't matter now credit app is in and ill know somthing later today. All those years of paying cash for everything has bit me in the hind end because at 30 I have basically no credit, not bad credit... No credit, it's a good thing my wife has amazing credit incase they don't approve me.

Unless they offer different insurance policies the Kubota insurance has a $200 deductible where as I am told many home owner insurance policies have much higher deductibles. The dealer I bought from said that many people indeed do use their home owner insurance. However the deductible thing can bite you.

We run a ZD 326 and we can cut 4 acres in less than 2 ours. It has a 60" deck. With the ZD 326 and the ZG 222 we can cut 4 acres in a little under an hour.

Well after they told me about kubota's insurance I would have been a fool not to get it. The insurance covers basically everything and it works out to be about $8 a month, that's a no brainer.

Well I'm all approved. Somthing someone said in another thread made me think. Double check the machine hasn't sat outside its entire life while at the dealer. In all honesty I have never even seen the machine I'm purchasing I have sat on them. I work out of town for weeks at a time. So there going to send me some pictures.

My Kubota insurance will cover 100% of my purchase price for three years if I buy another kubota with ZERO deductible. It was with the loan for three years at 0%. The salesman was up front from the beginning with me about the insurance requirement and said Kubota would take homeowners. My home owners I would have had to of added it with additional cost and deductibles. .

It will cover nearly EVERYTHING except nuclear and war...I'm not kidding there...that's what it says.

It was roughly 225 for that period of time.

FWIW

In regard to the insurance. I have bought 3 kubota mowers and used the finance. As long as your home owners insurance will verify you have a policy in effect, then Kubota or your dealer can waive this requirement.

That is what my dealer told me as well. He told me however for my protection to look at deductibles and compare coverage. Wen you do it is hard to turn their insurance down. Mine is $200 deductible. Between the warranty and the insurance about the only thing that I wold be out more than $200 wold be as somebody stated above Nuclear War.

In which case it probably won't matter about the deductible nor insurance.
