Kubota makes some very good products, however it appears the T1880 uses a Kohler engine, so check the Kohler forum for any issues associated with that engine.
Can't speak for the Deere, but have had a T1880 fro 10 years. I mow a lot! every 4-5 days and 1.5+ acres. The Kubota gives a great cut. I have worn out the Kohler after 10 years and bought a new Cub Cadet: 1st unit was a 24 HP twin (Kohler) with a 3-blade 54" deck. Horrible mow. Returned to dealer and exchanged for a 22 HP twin with a 48" deck. Again, a horrible cut. Ran the 10-yr old Kubota next to the Cadet and the Kubota produced a superior cut with dull blades. The mowing deck is great on the Kubota. I might suggest you spend a little extra and step up to a diesel with a shaft driven PTO (what I am shopping for). Kubota makes a great product!
