I got my exmark navigator stuck on a pretty steep slope the other day, and while trying to reverse it out it started making an awful clanging sound in the engine.
It’s a Kohler command ch740 27hp

it has fresh oil in it just changed a couple days prior.

I got it home and turned the key enough to get a video of the noise. Is there a way to post a video for suggestions on what’s going on with it?

Take both belts off the engine and see if it still makes a racket
Check the PTO clutch some times they get damaged when mowers get bogged
Some will break the locating peg and spin with the crankshaft

Ok
Are you talking about both of the pto drive belts (matched pair) or the pto belt(s) and the pump drive belt? So that engine is running unimpeded by anything?

Both the belts on the engine .
We are trying to isolate the mower from the engine to make sure the engine is where the strange sounds are coming from .
