Hi there, I have a Kohler ch25s, I was having problem with charging system, every day I will have to wiggle the wires that connect to the rectifier for the charging system to work, eventually quit and is not charging anymore, I did test the voltage at battery with the engine running and not running same voltage, drop a little when is runing..12.65v/12.53v,
1) Is there any way to test stator or the rectifier?
Also I have the electrical system (stator and Rectifier) from Kohler ch23s, the rectifier looks different that the one install on the engine, but I believed they are both 15amp
2) Do you know if it will work on this engine? ... we really appreciated any help, been working all day today on this mower?hank You

Here is a manual which has the testing procedure for your charging system.

Simple things to look for first. Make sure the body of the rectifier/regulator is grounded to the block of the engine. A wire attached to one of the screws that hold the rec/reg to the schroud grounds it. Also the center wire coming out of the rec/reg is the B+ and it either goes to the pos (+) terminal of the battery or back of ignition switch at the R or B terminals of it. Make sure it's not burned. Also measure voltage coming off each of the AC leads from the stator (at Rec/Reg on each side of the B+ lead) and the AC leads should not have any continuity to ground disconnected as if they do, the fuse would be blowing. If no voltage on the AC leads, then a problem with the stator or the flywheel like magnets loose or damaged stator. If you can add a 12V load (like a headlight or 12v bulb) to the battery with the engine running, test the rec/reg by measuring voltage drop when load is applied and see if rec/reg opens up and makes up any voltage loss within a few seconds.

Ok Finally got it working, Black connector attach to wires from stator, that plugs in to the rectifier was damage, really bad, I replace that black connector, now i have 12.2v motor not running and 13.8v with engine running full throttle. Blades are running very strong ageing, you have no idea how much I appreciated your help and this forum. Lot money spent without this forum, I would have probably junk that mower for something that simple?hank you so much, I can go back to work, I really appreciated your help?hanks You
