I have a kohler CH25S in a snapper mower and it's running rough at idle. When you try to idle the engine up its acting like its flooding out. I pulled the spark plugs out and they are just black. I took the carb apart and didn't see anything unusual except that the slow speed jet was just sitting inside the hole. Is the slow speed jet suppose to be threaded in or just sitting in there?
I believe it's should be tightened in. If it's just floating around in there it's not controlling the fuel flow and that's why it's flooding and your plugs are dark and sooty. gregjo1948

Just for fun, start the engine with one of the plug wires unplugged, then try it again with the other one unplugged{the first one plugged back in}
and tell us what happened.
