Hello, I have a kohler magnum 18HP V twin model MV20s on a craftsman GT6000 when I turn the key it will make one click sound, turn the key a couple times and it will engage and start. Sounds like the starter to me can something be done to stop this from happening. I seems to me like the wheel doesn't pop up to engage the flywheel.
Let me know what you think
thanks.

Post model number from under seat, thanks. Check battery connections for being tight & free from corrosion, also check connections at backside of ignition switch, solenoid, starter as well as ground wires for engine to chassis frame.

Two things come to mind very fast when reading your symptoms. First you must check your connections as previously posted. Any loose or dirty connection, Especially battery and solenoid ground connections. Second, check to see if you have a good strong battery. In this cold weather a weak battery will not turn over the engine the same as in warm weather.
