Is it normal for an engine to smoke a little during startup? Engine is on a Hustler X1i 2014 model with 2 hrs on it.

Probably just fine. What color smoke?

My kawasaki did that for a bit when it was new but it stopped and as far as I know it didn't hurt anything, got near 500hrs and it's still running strong. Are you running the 10w30 oil?

My new one does the same thing. I think it's pretty normal. All the dealers I shopped around at while trying to find what I wanted all done it as we'll. the salesmen acted like it was normal so I thought well ok then lol. And mine only has 4 hours on it. I'm noticing it's getting less and less the more I start it though.

White smoke as far as I can tell.

Don't know what oil weight is in it. Whatever came from the factory.

Nothing to worry about. White smoke means a very slight, incomplete combustion. It's ok.

I just asked because I use the Mobil 5000 10w30 in mine and if you are going to use the multi-Viscosity oil you need to keep check of the level because they say they can tend to use a little. I changed my oil and filter out at 5 hrs the first oil change and every 50 hrs since then.
