Love my John Deere X 300 but lately it is giving me fits!! I mow along, no problem with start up at all, and after 10 mins or so of mowing the mower blades will shut off. I am not lifting out of the seat, not reversing, just moving forward mowing and the mower blades turn off. I have replaced the battery, the clutch, and the ignition switch. Any other ideas?? I want to repair it myself rather than have it taken in.

The mower itself does not turn off, just the mower blades turn off. The mower itself still continues forward if I do not stop it with the brake. The only problem is that the mower blades turn off. When this happens I will just bring it to the garage and park the mower. After it cools off or about 15-20 minutes, I will go out, the mower starts fine, the lever can be pulled up to start the blades and away I mow, until about ten to fifteen minutes goes by and the blades shut off on their own. The actual blade engagement lever remains in the up position. Sometimes I can pump the right foot pedal (the big one near the forward pedal) and then push the mower blade engagement button down and lift it back up and the blades will turn on. Sometimes I can do this 2 - 3 times and continue to mow, but after a while it will not work and nothing I do will get the blades to turn back on but to let the mower sit for a while. Once it sits for a while, I can go out and start mowing like normal.

Any ideas?

Thank you

Sounds like your blade engagement switch is going bad or your clutch engagement could be dragging and overheating.
