My L100 is spilling oil very bad when I start. I was getting slight smoke from Engine for long time and I ignored it till this happened.

I removed the crank case and I see the oil tank is loose at the bottom and possible cause of spill. What should I do to fix it

Being an L100 I am assuming a briggs engine. Briggs uses the sump gasket as the spacer to set the free travel on the crankshaft. If you use some sort of sealant instead of the gasket you won't have the necessary clearances, and may not even be able to turn the crankshaft.
