As well all know on the series, the reverse safety switch stops working. In an **attempt to fix mine which just failed. I simply cut the wires, stripped them back, and twisted them together and wrapped them in electrical tape.
the mower runs fine, but when I go to back up the blades still stop even after I bypsssed the switch all together.
any thoughts? Should I have bypassed the switch in a different way? Should I have added connections to the end of the wires then connected them?
Are there two or four wires going to the switch? More than likely you have a normally closed switch. Try untwist them and tape them individually so there are now no connections, then give it a try.
The reverse switch itself is generally on the transmission near the control linkages.
On occasions when replacing a tranny I have forgotten to plug it back in .
This went unnoticed till it was drawn to my attention that the blades / engine did not cut out when reversing.
