John Deere 14 HP Front Deck Mower -- Troubleshoot

We have a John Deere 14 HP Front Deck Mower that worked great until about a week ago. Getting no fire at the spark plug--started and died, never to start again... Can't locate the manual. Does anyone have any idea how to troubleshoot?

We have our daughter's wedding coming up next week, and are really low on funds. Hope someone has some idea to help us out! Thanks in advance.
 
sorry to hear about your funds. The first thing to do is isolate the engine and chassis. Just repaired a JD that had that same problem and it needed a 80 dollar coil. :frown: Hope you better luck
