Hi, does anyone know if the steering box on a X748 has any form of adjustment to reduce excessive freeplay?

Hmm sounds to me their may be a bit of air in the system. First start it up and set to quarter throttle, next crank the steering wheel all the way to the end of throw both l & R, no need to horse on the wheel just listen for the steering valve to go into relief. Than hold it their for about 20 seconds than repeat in the other direction. By doing this you are getting new oil to the valve. You may need to center the steering wheel when done.
