Jacobsen 321 Riding Lawn Mower

Missing a piece for the throttle, not sure if it connects with a spring or another plastic piece.

Not sure who makes the motor or where to buy parts for it or even if I can. Any help would be great.

Thanks

That is a really cool looking machine -- I wish I could tell you something specific about the model.

Is it a connecting rod that you need? I can see the long plastic piece that looks like it's connected to the throttle. That piece obviously needs to be connected to another part via some kind of spring or connecting rod. Do you think it might be possible to make the part that you need?

Plan B: instead of trying to fix it as described above (which I think means fixing the governor) -- have you considered hooking up a direct throttle control, eliminating the governor?

Do you know how old it is? I'm thinking 1950s.

I believe it is an early 60's model. I did find out the lawnmower model number and it is a 2V-500387. I also found it that is needs a new carb. After replacing the gaskets in the old one it is leaking gas very badly. The old carb is a Walbro 62-31 and it is stamped 672. I'm not sure if I can get one to replace it or what to do at this point. Any suggestions would be helpful.

If you're sure that you need a new carb you could: (a) try Googling the make & model; or (b) look on eBay. It's amazing how many obscure old parts are for sale there.

I wouldn't give up on the old carb yet. Where is it leaking? Does it look like the float isn't closing its valve? Is it leaking around one of the gaskets -- in which case it may be mis-assembled?

Please keep us posted on your progress.
