info on engine swaps

hey ive got a 2009 john deere turf rider stander model 667a it had a fh680v kawaski engine 23hp that blew ..motors no longer available has anyone swap a engine on 1 of these or know what other engine will work for me thanks

THAT there is a hole 7 inchs in diameter in block connecting rod blew in 3 parts ..looking for
a motor that I can make work don't feel like paying almost 2 grand for a motor

Now that is the exact reason I don't like Kawasaki engines. Just start pricing engine parts, hang on to your wallet. I see some engines on E-Bay you might want to look at. You have two problems here John Deere and Kawasaki, big money. I installed a B&S for a customer in a John Deere a few years back as I recall the biggest changes I had to make was the wiring. When You remove the old engine just get all the measurements and compare what is out there. You might also check around for a mower salvage yard.

so briggs and straton will work ive heard that kawaski is contracted with deere I have 5 deere machine 2 standers 1 36inch and 2 48inch machines ..so hard was it to wire in that motor and what size did you use

As I said A few years back. As I recall it was a single cylinder engine but don't remember the HP. Anything electrical to me is nothing, seeing I worked on electric fork trucks for 10 years and I love working with electric. I try to discourage changing brand engines unless you are ready to make some modifications. Also you know your skills I don't. My first step is to try to repair what I have even if it needs a engine case and also understand if its cheaper to replace the engine if that is the way to go. What broke the rod, something hit the piston like a valve or did you spin a rod bearing?

My experience owned a motorcycle shop worked on forklifts for 7 years ..it was a bad design motor and its been discontiued im gonna try a 24hp briggs

I agree with you, never liked the Kawasaki in bikes or snowmobiles. As for myself I don't buy Kawasaki but you get what you get when a repair comes into the shop. The thing I dislike more are the Chinese bikes, just can't find parts for them, also they are plastic junk that nothing go's together right. I ride a Harley myself no plastic junk.
