Idler pulley issue?

I just put a mtd 717-750 transmission in my mtd 12HP coast to coast mower. I have the idler pulley on the middle mount and it doesn't move like it is supposed too. I know it is supposed to have a spring but where do i put it. I need help. Thanks alot.

MTD makes a lot of mowers and sells them under different names. below is a link to a parts diagram. I think will be able to see it. Only shows two springs on the whole mower.
