my murray 12.5 hp. rider won't idle down all linkage looks ok no response from mower when idled down.

sounds like your throttle cable may be loose where it is screwed to the linkages or it is broke inside one. kneel down beside mower on the carb side and move the lever from turtle to rabbit while watching whats happening at the carb linkages.
