I just bought a used 5212.5 lawnmower, like it a lot the only complaint is rolling it off the trailer it just kept going when I pushed in the clutch brake combo. It did not stop the tractor or hold it on a slope. The hydrostatic works I drove it back up the ramp, but it rolls back when you push in the clutch brake combo.

Brake is on the side of the tranny.
There is a caliper with a lever in the middle and a single nut holding the lever in.
The nut is the adjuster, in = tight out = loose.
The brake is generally considerd part of the transmission, not the mower so you will need to look up the transmission parts book for the brake parts.
