my yth 2454 , will start without sitting on the seat, also you can get off the mower , with engine running, if needed. to do this, you press down the brake petal, all the way down, then engage the parking brake, with this set you can start or get off the mower with engine running, I like this feature. thought I would share this info with you, mark55
