When servicing the Hydro-Gear 314-0510 Transaxle the service manual states to remove the expansion tank when changing the oil. This transaxle is installed in a 2002 Craftsman model 917.272461 Lawn Tractor and I need to replace the drive belt. Since the transaxle has never been serviced I plan on removing the transaxle and draining it and replacing with new synthetic 20w-50 oil. Will I need to replace any seals or o-rings if I pull the expansion tank? Should I not pull the expansion tank and just refill with new oil?
