We have a new Hustler Raptor SD,my husband changed the oil, now when he starts it and drops the blades down the mower dies, please help

You have accidentally disconnected a safety switch or broke a wire. Brake, Handle bars, PTO and Seat are the safety switches.

drops the blades? you mean turn the blades on?
first thing i would do is flip up the seat and make sure the seat switch is still connected. you have to be in the seat for the blades to turn on. and if you're not, the engine dies.

All my safety switches are bypassed. It sounds like one of yours is somehow disconnected or acting up.
