Most likely you have a bad safety switch or pto switch that is not allowing it to start using the key. Check the pto switch by checking continuity on the outside prongs of the switch, and check the continuity of all the safety switches such as brake switch and switches on the drive levers.

I will check those..thank you. But I am able to start with the seat up and using a crescent wrench jumping the Solenoid. It operates fine then, so I didn’t think any of those sensors would be bad. ( it’s a real pain to start that way and I’m just going to burn up the solenoid eventually. I will check the sensors you mentioned and go from there.
I do have one other question...the hrs timer is blinking. Oil...chg.....no broblem . I changed today and the readout is still blinking. ? I pulled it from the panel and with the battery still disconnected it continues to blink and display hrs which is 149.5. And Oil. Chg There is no obvious reset button...? Is this thing on an internal battery and what is the purpose of the two connections. ?

It has its own internal battery, but may either use power from the key switch to start counting hours or possibly use engine spark impulses to trigger the clock. Normally the change oil reminder will auto reset after 2 hours of run time.

Most mower do not need to the seat switch to be activated start the engine, only when the pto is engaged or lever/parking brake is deactivated does the seat switch come into play and will kill the engine if you are not on the seat. So most likely you have an issue with the pto switch, brake switch, or a direction control lever safety switch. or if present could be a problem with an associated relay.

Electrical problems are a PIA to diagnose particularly over the web.

So firstly what if anything did you replace before you started having this problem ?
Secondly if you want good help we need good information and that starts with the full model & serial numbers from the tag under the seat.
The information you have already been provided with is good sound information but note the "may haves" because we do not know what wiring circuits your mower has and can not look them up without more information.
